Testimonials
“Magda was professional and very attentive to my health requirements. The relaxing and therapeutic experience was amazing 🤩 leaving me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Marcus brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and asks the right questions to point you in the right direction and help you think differently. I love how these retreats are truly personalised.”
- Faye Younger & Julia Murray
I didn’t really know what to expect but it’s definitely been one of the best things I’ve done. I started out with my own understanding of my life story and after a few days of gentle conversation and insights shared from psychology and metaphysical perspectives, a whole bunch of new truths came to the fore. I feel changed because of these discoveries and I can’t wait to create a new narrative going forward. Marcus’s open, unassuming yet skillful approach was just what I needed to build and strengthen my sense of self. It was an amazing few days! 🙏
- Rosslyn L
I was looking for guidance on the direction of my life, going through a major shift. Marcus was warm and friendly and he went through various activities and discussions. He not only gave me great ideas, but also allowed me to learn more about myself. Magda also did reflexology on me and it was the best I've ever experienced! The accommodation was very comfortable and warm during the colder days. The nearby walks were also enjoyable!

Thriving in the Third Act of Life
Program Outline
Day One
Morning Session 9:30am - 12:30pm
Søren Kierkegaard mused that, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards." To begin, you’ll be guided through the process of reflecting on your life iwith honesty rather than judgment. Revisiting past choices, relationships, and turning points—serves not to dwell on regret, but to understand how each experience shaped who you’ve become. You’re discover patterns that are ready to let go of, accepting what cannot be changed, acknowledging both the joys and the mistakes, and gently release the weight of “what if.” In that space of acceptance, there is room for gratitude, forgiveness, and a renewed clarity about how you want to live moving forward.
Lunch 12:30pm
Afternoon Session 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Rather than resisting ageing, eldership invites a shift in perspective: from striving and accumulation to meaning, connection, and legacy. It offers the opportunity to share our story, guide others, and nurture younger generations. Through learning how to embrace this stage, you’ll discover that life becomes less about the richness of what has been and more about what is ahead and determine how you can find outlets to stepping into a role of quiet authority, reflection, and contribution.
Waterfall Walk (Optional) 4:00 - 6:00pm
Should the weather and your energy levels be accomodating, you can use this time to take in a nearby bushwalk to our local waterfall.
Alternatively, you might indulge in some art activities or enjoy one of the more physical activities we host (mountain biking / stand up paddleboarding).
Dinner 6:30 - 7:30pm
Enjoy a home cooked, organic meal or travel out to try one of Katoomba’s local dining facilities.
Evening (Optional) 7:30pm onwards
There are a range of optional evening activities for you to enjoy, such as listening to or reading poetry, life stories, or enjoying a thought-provoking film or inspiring documentary. Other options include self-guided meditation and yoga.
Day Two
Breakfast 8:30am
Enjoy a homemade breakfast, tea or coffee on the verandah whilst the kookaburras and other local birds sing.
Morning Session 9:30am - 12:30pm
Depending on whether your focus is meaning making or greater wellbeing and health you’ll either explore your numerology/astrology blueprint for clues on your life purpose or undertake a health related session to foster longevity and quality of life during the twilight years.
Lunch 12:30pm
Afternoon Session 1:30pm - 4:00pm
The final session will deepen your understanding of your eldership journey and be tailored to whichever themes have emerged during your stay.
Cost: $590 for a 2 day holistic health retreat. $50 off for a weekday program.
An extended 3-7 day program is available for this retreat.

Marcus studied social work and education at university, grounding that knowledge by working in a diverse range of roles as an adult educator and caseworker.
His interest in eldership work began with his work with disadvantaged youth through The Department of Sport and Recreation, delivering youth empowerment programs with Rotary, young activists, high schoolers suspended from school, rites of passage programs for youth, as well as giving motivational talks to high school students.
He then began working with adults who had employment barriers, offering motivational workshops, teaching adult inmates as well as those in drug and alcohol rehab centres and getting involved with community mens circles and the Mankind Project.
Over 15 years ago, he began running courses at Camp Creative, predominantly with retirees navigating the third act of life. Through helping seniors write their biographies and make greater sense of their life’s journey, he has developed a passion for eldership work, particularly having entered his 50s himself.
His initiative, Writes of Passage Retreats, operates with the belief that contemplation, nature, carefully curated ideas and guidance is the ideal means for people to look at life with greater possibility and unearth their own dormant potentiality.

After a debilitating journey in her 20s with gluten and dairy intolerances that led to a breakdown of gut health, Magdalena sought answers from every kind of health practitioner.
Along the way, she acquired a wealth of knowledge and found her vocational calling in the field of health and health coaching.
Having trained as a reflexologist, Magdalena focuses on the physical aspect of health, particularly nutrition and the importance of knowing one’s body type.
In the process of discovering how we can heal ourselves through food, she developed a passion for healthy cooking and the importance of combining great-tasting meals with the nutritional elements of living foods.
Magda is also trained in Sound Healing practices making therapeutic use of vibration, tone, and frequency to support physical, emotional, and mental well-being by rebalancing the body’s energy systems and fostering relaxation and grounding.
Healthy Ageing Retreat Australia
I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no "brief candle" for me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.
– George Bernard Shaw
The third part of life is not an ending—it’s a harvest. These are the years of eldership, when experience ripens into wisdom and a lifetime of lessons becomes something to share.
It’s a season of reflection, contribution, and quiet authority, where your story nourishes others. In the harvest years, you don’t just look back on what you’ve grown—you become the guide for what comes next.
Toko-pa Turner suggests that “We are continuously giving birth to new versions of ourselves. Just as all life reproduces in the material world, so too is it in psyche. In the paradoxical way of wisdom, we are both creator and creation, parent and child.”
Hence the work is to both shed what needs to be shed and express our highest potential through not only individuating but moving to the ultimate place of transcendence, which Abraham Maslow describes as helping others individuate.
