Menopause Retreat
Program Outline
Day One
Morning Session 9:30am - 11:00am
The physical changes menopause brings include symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, muscle aches, dry skin, lower sex drive and sleeping difficulties.
At this stage of life, nutrition becomes more important than ever before, especially with the hormonal effects such as mood changes, anxiety, irritability and difficulty concentrating or making decisions.
This session will explore the dietary supports you can draw in and help you locate those gaps in your diet that exacerbate menopausal changes.
Mid Morning Session 11:00am - 12:30pm
Psychologically, menopause represents the season of Autumn, which is about letting go, shedding our old life and going inwards to reevaluate who we are and what we need from life.
This session will focus on the gestation period menopause symbolises and how to embrace the end of one chapter of life in order to make way for the one to come.
Lunch 12:30pm
Afternoon Session 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Reflexology holds that our physical, mental and emotional bodies work together.
The theory of reflexology is based on enhancing energy flow through all parts of the body by using a specific form of pressurised touch.
Having a reflexology treatment induces a sense of calm within the mind-body and promotes an overall feeling of well-being.
It also provides insights from your body in terms of health and emotional issues that need addressing for ongoing wellbeing.
Waterfall Walk (Optional) 4:00 - 6:00pm
Should the weather and your energy levels be accomodating, you can use this time to take in a nearby bushwalk to our local waterfall.
Alternatively, you might indulge in some art activities or enjoy one of the more physical activities we host (mountain biking / stand up paddleboarding).
Dinner 6:30 - 7:30pm
Enjoy a home cooked, organic meal or travel out to try one of Katoomba’s local dining facilities.
Evening (Optional) 7:30pm onwards
There are a range of optional evening activities for you to enjoy, such as listening to or reading poetry, life stories, or enjoying a thought-provoking film or inspiring documentary. Other options include self-guided meditation and yoga.
Day Two
Breakfast 8:30am
Enjoy a homemade breakfast, tea or coffee on the verandah whilst the kookaburras and other local birds sing.
Morning Session 9:30am - 11:00am
Our physiological state is determined in large part by the way we respond to the circumstances of our lives. A calm response generates “soothing” biochemicals. An angry or fearful high-stress response generates toxic biochemicals. Over a prolonged period, unchecked psychological stress can contribute to illness by creating physiological turmoil. This session will explore your relationship with your physiology as well as sleep and rest, helping you discover impediments to attaining high energy levels and a calm mind.
You’ll also explore the importance of pursuing an active lifestyle at a time when we naturally want to exercise less, fall into less structured eating habits when retiring or working less, drink more alcohol as a coping mechanism and experience lower oestrogen levels after which promote fat storage around the waist.
Mid Morning Session 11:00am - 12:30pm
After the shedding phase of our Autumn of Life, comes our rebirthing or creating passage.
This session will focus on the invitation to flourish that menopause offers, exploring those latent parts of you that have hibernated during the career or caretaking obligations that have dominated up until now.
Lunch 12:30pm
Afternoon Session 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Depending on what you feel you will get the most benefit from in this final session, you can choose from a mix of:
Tarot reading, Reiki/energy balancing, transpersonal counselling.
Alternatively, you can have a session looking at your soul’s blueprint (your astrology and numerology maps), which helps illuminate your second half of life individuation and eldership focus.
Cost: $590 for a weekend menopause retreat.
Inclusions: Our all-inclusive women’s retreats include accommodation, meals, workbooks, counselling and activities.
Optional session of bibliotherapy. Learn more about our bibliotherapy service.
Location: Katoomba, Blue Mountains NSW.

After a debilitating journey in her 20s with gluten and dairy intolerances that led to a breakdown of gut health, Magdalena sought answers from every kind of health practitioner.
Along the way, she acquired a wealth of knowledge and found her vocational calling in the field of health and health coaching.
Having trained as a reflexologist, Magdalena focuses on the physical aspect of health, particularly nutrition and the importance of knowing one’s body type.
In the process of discovering how we can heal ourselves through food, she developed a passion for healthy cooking and the importance of combining great-tasting meals with the nutritional elements of living foods.

Ginny’s training in guiding and supporting others began with her hairdressing career where she informally coached, listened and offered support to the thousands of clients she came to know both in Australia and abroad.
After navigating a crisis period where she had to take control of her life and steer it in a healthier direction she found her calling to work with people who were also ready to reclaim their life.
In addition to following Buddhist practices and doing extensive studies in self-development, she complemented her self-education with formal studies in Youth Work, Community Services and a Bachelor of Social Work.
Finding Breathwork to be a transformative form of healing she has done much training in it and continues to deepen her practice. Ginny is also trained in Theta healing.
Taking an intuitive approach, Ginny found a gift for interpreting the messages offered by tarot cards, working as a spiritual healer and being a clear vessel for the collective unconscious to work through.Having traversed peri-menopause and currently navigating menopause, Ginny has a great understanding of the myriad changes women go through and how inner work is an integral tool in being able to thrive during this time of life.
Counselling is something that Ginny both enjoys and has a natural affinity for. After you undertake our therapy retreats, Ginny is available to offer ongoing counselling if you’d like to build upon the work completed during the retreat.

Marcus studied social work and education at university, grounding that knowledge by working in a diverse range of roles as an adult educator and caseworker.
After running a variety of workshops in Australia and overseas he launched his initiative known as Writes of Passage Retreats, in the belief that contemplation, nature, carefully curated ideas and guidance is the ideal means for people to look at life with greater possibility and unearth their own dormant potentiality.
Through his retreat programs and individual counselling work, he has worked with a large number of individuals to help them find greater health, purpose, healing and enthusiasm for their future.
Over the last decade he has worked predominately with women, primarily those navigating the midlife passage which he has taught extensively through his week long life passages course.
Menopause & Midlife Mindfulness Retreat
A life is like a river. We flow in an endless dance of strength and surrender. We shape and are shaped by our surroundings, we grow with the rain and we ebb with the heat. We fall apart, and we pool ourselves together. We become what we carry, nourishing lives we may never see. For times, we join with other streams, never knowing how long we will run together and when we will split apart. And for all our forks and confluences, we all return to the same source.
— Willow Defebaugh, The Wisdom of Rivers
The metaphor of menopause being like a river captures the transition as a natural, continuous journey of change, flow, and transformation.
Just as a river is a natural force, menopause is a normal biological event not a negative, clinical event
A river symbolizes the passage of life stages, moving from one phase to the next.
Menopause brings symptoms and experiences that ebb and flow unpredictably much like the changing currents and conditions of a river.
Just as a river's flow and path can be unpredictable, with calm stretches and rushing rapids, each woman's menopause journey is unique.
Few women sail through the transition, but you can smooth the passage through better understanding the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual forces behind it.
Just as a river ultimately reaches the sea, this stage of life can be framed as an opportunity for self-discovery, empowerment, renewal and a "new normal" for the body and mind.
From their source to their destination, rivers are always moving and changing. As we make our way through life, we sometimes enjoy patches of calm, still water; occasionally, we encounter turbulent and rocky rapids.
There are times when our lives might drift gently with the current, other times when we find ourselves in rough, uncharted waters or tumbling over unexpected waterfalls. It’s at times like these that we might wish ourselves to be sitting ‘dry-footed on the bank, watching the current pass’.
Together, we will delve into how your river flowing is at this time in your life and how you can embrace the higher opportunity it brings.
The separation of psychology from the premises of biology is purely artificial, because the human psyche lives in indissoluble union with the body.
