Why get Health Coaching?
This year, more than 8 in 10 Australians will experience a long term health condition. Half of us will be living with a chronic disease and by the time we are 65, 80% of us will be nursing at least one chronic disease.
Throughout most of history, premature death has come about from pathogens. Influenza (Spanish flu, Covid etc), HIV, Bubonic plague, Polio, tuberculosis, lung disease from smoke fire, coal dust inhalation, asbestos etc. Then there has been malnutrition, plagues, famine and scurvy from mass migration.
Today, premature death and inhibited health is primarily due to lifestyle, something we have a great deal of control over. Behavioural change is the key to improving our health and is outside the purview of mainstream health and medical care.
Only 6% of adults will eat the recommended daily intake of vegetables. As the nutrients in our soil grow more depleted and our lifestyle habits worsen, the days when our health exceeds the generation before us are over.
Mental health conditions and substance abuse now cause the second heaviest burden of disease, only cancer has more overall impact on the population.
Although we have unprecedented access to health information, most people lack the motivation, awareness, and support to optimise their health and eradicate behaviours that are working against their wellbeing.
As an Integrative nutrition health coach, I blend traditional nutrition therapy with other approaches. I look beyond symptoms to investigate the root cause behind symptoms and unsupportive lifestyle choices. In considering nutrition in combination with psychological, physiological, and environmental factors that might be contributing to your health you are more likely to sustain positive health behavioural changes.
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will instruct his patients in care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.

After a debilitating journey in my 20s with gluten and dairy intolerances that led to a breakdown of gut health, I sought answers from every kind of health practitioner.
Along the way, I acquired a wealth of knowledge and found my vocational calling in the field of health.
Having trained as a reflexologist, I focus on the physical aspect of health, particularly nutrition, and the importance of knowing one’s body type.
In the process of discovering how I could heal myself through food, I developed a passion for healthy cooking and the importance of combining great-tasting meals with the nutritional elements of living foods.
After working with a therapist I realised the importance of mental and emotional health in order to maintain great physical health. That led me to undertake studies in those areas and develop my skills as an integrative nutrition health coach working on mind, body and spirit.

What Does A Health Coaching Session Involve?
We will briefly go over your physical and mental health history, current health status and symptoms based on your intake form.
Next, we explore your desired goals and a vision for your health transformation while setting healthy expectations to fulfil them.
Our session will cover your food and lifestyle habits, determining which are bringing your body down… and how to improve upon it. Depending on your particular situation, we will consider if there are appropriate lab tests that might provide deeper insights.
After determining specific dietary changes that may enhance your health we will discuss lifestyle changes you can adopt such as stress reduction, exercise, and anything else that will aid in your wellbeing.
Going beyond physical symptoms, we will delve into any emotional or mental constructs that have been impeding your wellness, slowing you down, or keeping you from having the body and health you want.
Together we will decide on some action steps to take to work toward your health goals and whether there are complementary wellness services you might draw on to assist your health goals.
For those needing ongoing support, follow up visits typically occur about every 4-8 weeks. At each visit, we will review how you’ve gone with prior recommendations and make decisions going forward based on this. We will continue to deepen your health knowledge as we take in your whole situation and lifestyle, tweaking things along the way.
This allows us to continually modify your treatment plan to help you feel better as quickly as possible while achieving optimal long term health.
