Personal Counselling
Individual counselling or empowerment therapy is a great opportunity to work through the approval vs authenticity struggle we face, as well as a means to have someone with fresh eyes talk with you about your self-actualisation.
Counselling services have often been viewed as something to draw on in a crisis. These days, we’re regarding it also as a valuable part of our wellness and self-care.
"It's your life – but only if you make it so. When you adopt the values of someone else you surrender your own integrity. You become, to the extent of your surrender, less of a human being." - Eleanor Roosevelt

Couples Counselling
Among the tension of opposites we are asked to integrate, perhaps none is more difficult than pull between intimacy and independence.
I offer face-to-face relationship counselling or couples which is a wonderful opportunity to harmonise such an important aspect of our lives.
Online counselling is also available via Zoom. We run a couples retreat for intensive couples therapy with the option of ongoing support.
“Why is love rich beyond all other possible human experiences and a sweet burden to those seized in its grasp?” - Martin Heidegger

Family Counselling
Family counselling helps navigate the relationships we have with our parents and siblings. Maintaining healthy boundaries with parents is one of the most common reasons people come to see me.
Recognising what are your core values (vs inherited values) is a primary task towards individuation. I draw on narrative therapy to help people locate their scripts and change them.
I also work with parents who are struggling with parenthood and finding their identity within the family unit.

Transpersonal Counselling
You might have a great relationship with yourself, your family and a partner but still feel there is more growth to realise.
As a transpersonal counsellor, I draw on my intuitive counselling skills to help you discover what larger story is trying to emerge in you.
What is Transpersonal counselling?
Transpersonal counselling addresses not just the mental, but the spiritual, too.
It is rooted in transpersonal psychology, pioneered by the likes of Carl Jung and Abraham Maslow. It deals with the full spectrum of the human experience, aiming to help us realise our full potential as humans, by working with not only thoughts and emotions, but with our life’s purpose and sense of spirituality - that is, compassion and interconnectedness. It’s about helping you get in touch with your highest self and create a life of total fulfilment.
Carl Jung witnessed a major shift in his patient’s issues after midlife. During the first half of life, up until around age 40, we focus on careers, financial stability and relationships. Our focus is on gaining strength, confidence and stability.
Many people enter the midlife passage, or the second half of life, with a career, a family, friends and feel something is acutely missing. Our desire for wholeness asserts itself.
Jung came be believe that more than 95% of clients he saw over the age of 40, were seeing him due to a spiritual crisis, or hunger for greater meaning.
Having entered the midlife passage myself, I find that integrative psychology brings about the greatest and most lasting change in the people I work with.
Often we get shamed in our culture for making mistakes. Integrative therapy takes a wholly different approach, seeing our journey through life and all our experiences as part of the larger process of spiritual development. As Jung pointed out:
“The right way to wholeness is made up of fateful detours and wrong turnings.”
What my clients say…
Hilary Sims
“Ginny has a beautiful genuine spirit…and truly cares about your wellbeing. If you want a healing experience, Ginny is the one for you.”
Karina Joanna
“I met Ginny when I booked a retreat two years back during a dark period of my life. Her intuitive counselling sessions really stood out. She actively listened to me, was genuinely empathetic and when she would share suggestions; they would come from her heart and worked around what I could commit to, not what I “should” be doing.
Little did I know then, that she would end up being my Spiritual Counsellor and mentor to this day. Her counselling sessions have helped me navigate relationship changes and feelings of ‘I’m not going to make it through this’.
She was my safe and non-judgemental place to go to every week, she would gently (and sometimes more confrontingly) challenge me and my beliefs. Ginny would hold space for me to vent, work through my stuff and would always continue to encourage me.
Ginny has become much more than a counsellor; but also my Spiritual and life mentor. It’s taken a while to get to where I am right now as I’m doing good, am genuinely happy and have found my inner strength, through her guidance and support; I continue to see her fortnightly now because even when life is great, having someone to talk to regularly keeps me on the path I’ve chosen to take.”
Rachel Potter
“Ginny is a safe place find your authentic self. And sometimes we don’t realise how much ego we’ve built up until someone allows us to instantly feel safe enough to take off the mask, express the pain and begin to heal.”
My Journey
My journey into transpersonal counselling began when I was 20. Struggling with depression and an eating disorder, I was introduced to a transpersonal counsellor who supported me through this challenging time. Since then, I knew I wanted to assist people through their spiritual crises just as my therapist did with me.
I went on to study Youth Work, Community Services, and a Social Science degree. Having been a student of the Tibetan Buddhist Mayhanan Path for over 25 years, it has given me a deep understanding of the nature of the mind, as well as the importance of loving kindness and living with a compassionate heart.
Combined with my life experience and training, I have created my own client-centred approach to counselling that integrates the whole person; mind, body, and spirit.
